As someone who's spent countless hours scouring the city's charity shops, I've developed a keen eye for spotting hidden gems. My top three favourite charity shops in Manchester right now are Oxfam on Oxford Road, BHF on Wilbraham Road, and Sue Ryder on Burton Road. Each of these shops has its unique character and treasure trove of second-hand goodies.
Oxfam on Oxford Road will always hold a special place in my heart, as it's where I found my first real fashion purchase – a stunning silk blouse for £3.50. That find changed something in me, and I've been hooked on charity shopping ever since. The store is well-organized, making it easy to browse through the rails and shelves. I've found some amazing pieces there, from vintage dresses to high-street tops.
BHF on Wilbraham Road is another gem, often yielding some fantastic high-street and designer pieces at unbeatable prices. The staff is friendly, and the store is always tidy, making for a pleasant shopping experience. I've picked up some great coats and jackets here, including a fantastic wool trench coat for £10.
Last but not least, Sue Ryder on Burton Road is a treasure trove of unexpected finds. From vintage accessories to one-off designer pieces, this shop is a must-visit for any serious thrifter. The store can be a bit hit-or-miss, but when you find something, it's usually a real gem. I once found a beautiful cashmere sweater for £5, which has become a staple in my winter wardrobe.
