Everything I Bought in the Last 6 Months (With Receipts)

As I sit down to reflect on my fashion purchases over the past six months, I'm surprised by the sheer variety of items I've accumulated. From October 2023 to April 2024, I've bought a total of 15 pieces, with the majority of them costing under £10. My most expensive purchase was the Burberry trench coat from Beyond Retro, which set me back £85. While it was a significant investment, I've worn it countless times, and it's become a staple in my wardrobe.

As I go through my receipts, I'm reminded of the thrill of the hunt, the excitement of discovering hidden gems in charity shops and thrift stores. I've always been drawn to the thrill of finding unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect my personality. However, I'm also aware that this approach can sometimes lead to impulse purchases, and I'm not always mindful of the environmental and social implications of my buying habits.

One of the things that's struck me as I review my purchases is the number of items I've bought on a whim, without fully considering whether they fit into my existing wardrobe. I've bought a few pieces that I thought were a good idea at the time, but have since realized don't quite work for me. For example, I purchased a pair of high-waisted jeans that I thought would be a great addition to my wardrobe, but they've only been worn once or twice. Similarly, I bought a few tops that I thought would be perfect for work, but they've ended up languishing in my closet, unworn.

Despite these mistakes, I'm pleased to see that I've also made some excellent purchases. The Burberry trench coat, for instance, has been a game-changer for my wardrobe. I've worn it on countless occasions, and it's become a staple in my rotation. I've also bought a few pieces from Vinted, including a lovely pair of vintage boots that have become a favorite of mine.

As I look back on my purchases, I'm reminded of the importance of being mindful and intentional when it comes to buying clothes. It's not just about the price or the brand; it's about whether the item truly fits into my existing wardrobe, and whether it reflects my personal style. By being more discerning and thoughtful in my purchases, I'm hoping to cultivate a more sustainable and intentional approach to fashion, one that prioritizes creativity and self-expression over impulse purchases and fleeting trends.
